About Rick Dumas

Rick Dumas is a dedicated public servant and lifelong resident of Marathon, with a deep commitment to his community. Before entering municipal politics, Rick successfully ran several businesses and worked with Marathon Non-Profit Housing as a facilities maintenance mechanic. His passion for community involvement is evident through his leadership in local organizations, including men’s fastball, commercial hockey, golf, the Harley Owners Group (HOG), and youth bowling.

First elected to council in 1991, Rick has spent over three decades serving the people of Marathon. He was elected Mayor in 2006 and has since been acclaimed in every election—2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022—demonstrating the trust and confidence the community has in his leadership. He currently serves as President of the Thunder Bay District Municipal League (TDML), a board member of the Northern Ontario Municipal League (NOMA), and a representative on the OAPSB and AMO’s Northern Caucus. He has also chaired the Police Services Board since 2006.

Rick is passionate about making Northern Ontario a great place to live, work, and raise a family. He looks forward to bringing his experience and leadership to Queen’s Park to ensure Thunder Bay–Superior North gets the strong representation it deserves.
